Things Are Going To Change...A King Is Coming!

This morning our children's ministries put on a wonderful program called "A King Is Coming To Town!" It described a town consumed with the rumor of a king's upcoming visit, their lack of understanding who the king really was, and how unprepared they were, it was a delightful program with a real message. What consumed me was the words of a song that simply said, "Things are about to change, a King is coming to town....sin will not rule here any longer!"

I know my thought here is quite simple, but everything changes when Jesus comes to town. Take a quick trip through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, read of His healings, of those He raised from the dead, of His miracles and the many lives Jesus changed. Often it was an instant change, at other times He left a deposit that continued to work after His departure, but every where He went things changed. That is the message and the power of the gospel, sin loses its grip, and lives are completely changed when Christ enters the picture, I am so glad that He has changed my life, aren't you?

On behalf of Bishop Sloan, Pastor Tena, and all the Oasis Staff we thank you for your gifts of love, for the cards and the monetary gifts, for your hugs and most of all your love! We love each of you and thank you from the depths of our hearts. From our hearts to yours, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The Blessing Of Our Bishop

Christmas is a season of giving, all around the world people are hurrying and scurrying, looking for the perfect gift. In a few days, if not already, you will tire of hearing the question, "Have you got all of your Christmas shopping done?" I am once again reminded that Christmas is really not about us, the perfect gifts, the super sales, or what we did or did not get on December 25th...It is about Jesus Christ. Christmas is also a mindset, a life style, we should be giving all the time, sharing of time, talent, and treasure with those around us.

Today I was thinking about our pastoral family, this weekend we will share a financial gift as an expression of our love and appreciation, but our giving is not an occasional event, it should be a continuous participation in the things of the Kingdom! Our Bishop is God's gift to us, he and his family are the messengers, the angels, the watchers, the shepherds, and the Bishops over our souls. The Apostle Paul speaks of God giving gifts to the church and he specifically mentions pastors and teachers, men and women given to the church for edification, encouragement, exhortation, rebuke, correction, protection and proclamation...and the list goes on!

We love Bishop Sloan and Pastor Tena, their children, and are thankful for who they are, what they do, and where they're taking us.

Bishop Sloan, you are a blessing to each of us at Oasis World Outreach, Pastor Tena, you are a blessing to each of us, and we love and appreciate you always, and especially during this holiday season!
